Moving Day!!!

So, I have lived in Long Beach for 8 years now and I have moved a record 7 times!!! Including the most recent move to my new and fabulous studio apartment.

A few fun facts about my new pad:

5) You have to go up the most narrow, but adorable, staircase EVER to get in... Just ask my love seat
4) Original Tile in bathroom and kitchen. A tasteful sea foam green and lavender in the kitchen; black and peach in the bathroom!
3) The heater is a combo of the electric stove in my kitchen and a space heater that the landlord so generously gave to me... AND it comes with a remote
2) Built in 1929, She's old but won me over with her great personality
1) This is the first apartment that I found, rented and paid for all on my own! It's a celebration...As much as I hate to admit this I might be all growed up ;)

Seriously though, I love my new place. Their is so much character in this building and I can't wait to decorate. My moving day started on Saturday bright and early. I had my Mom and my step dad coming to help me at 8 am and I thought it would be a good idea to get to my storage unit early to make sure I had everything ready to go. I arrived at 6 am sharp, but I ran into my first roadblock... it is still dark at 6am. That's OK, I just pulled my car at an angle so that my headlights were shining bright. I went a whole 30 minutes without anyone trying to get by, but finally a truck started pulling my way. I went to move my car and in comes obstacle #2, my battery died! LOL I let the guy in the truck know what happened and I told him that I have the cables if he wouldn't mind giving me a jump. He pretended to drive around and never made it back. He just stopped at his storage, got what he needed and bounced leaving me potentially stranded!!! Thanks buddy. Not too long after that a nice couple helped me get my car up and running, but not before the women yelled at me for going to a storage unit by myself in the dark.

I am on a pretty tight budget, hence the name of the blog, so my step dad brought his Chevy truck to move all of my things. We had to take three trips but overall it was smooth sailing. My Mom unpacked all of my boxes while we moved. Only a few minor scrapes and bruises were endured, and actually it was the most fun I have ever had on a moving day!
